Out of the Box Theatre is the brainchild of PhoenX. Out of the Box Theatre will show a rendering of community issues as a facilitation of community discussion. It aims to show how social structures that segregate various groups from each other, limit our ability to find solutions. Out of the Box Theatre uses a minimalist theatre structure based on boxes, providing a flexible and ready structuring for this facilitation / educational type of theatre. Boxes act as set and prop turnover positories, structuring the theatrical landscape for the movement of characters and the progression of the story or message line. At a metaphorical level, out of the box points to the displaying of various perspectives on the issue, especially those not usually entertained by the community or government policy, bringing them out of the box.
